Overview
Al Jamia Arts & Science College is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier, or on a slow connection.
What we have done
- Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "skip to main content" link as the first stop.
- Headings, landmarks and lists are marked up semantically, so screen readers can navigate by structure rather than by guesswork.
- Text and background colours are chosen to meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast at body sizes, and text resizes without breaking the layout.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Animation respects the operating system's "reduce motion" setting.
- Tables that are too wide for a phone scroll on their own and say so, rather than pushing the page sideways.
- Every page prints cleanly, with links printed as addresses, for anyone who prefers paper.
Known limitations
- Some older circulars and reports are published as scanned PDFs. These are images of text and cannot be read by a screen reader. If you need any of them in an accessible format, contact us and we will provide one.
- A few migrated pages still carry tables that were designed for print. We are converting them as they are revised.
- Third-party embeds — notably the Google Maps panel in the footer — follow their provider's accessibility behaviour, not ours.
