Department of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology at Al Jamia Arts & Science College was established in 2018 with the vision of providing quality education in microbiology and promoting scientific research. The department offers a student-centred learning environment with well-equipped laboratories, experienced faculty and a curriculum aligned with the University of Calicut. We focus on developing scientific knowledge, practical laboratory skills, research aptitude and ethical values, preparing students for higher education, research, healthcare, industry and entrepreneurship.

The Department of Microbiology is committed to providing outcome-based education with a strong emphasis on practical learning and research orientation. The department regularly organizes seminars, workshops, awareness programs, industrial visits, extension activities, and skill development programs. Special focus is given to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), biofilm research, environmental microbiology, and laboratory competency, enabling students to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world applications.
